All Change
The lovely Mr Sec is obviously very pleased with my enthusiasm. He told me I don't have to have everything planted by next weekend and instead of a gold star, he told me why don't I put my manure pile and compost bin on the weed patch behind the hut.
As soon as I started planting things in the garden at the beginning of last season, I just knew I was going to run out of space. I was right (well, I'm never wrong am I ?). So almost immediately I started searching for a lottie.
I had a choice of three in my area. One never responded, one's waiting list was closed and then there was my third and final chance ! I jumped on the waiting list at No. 21 and it's taken just about a year to get to the top.
I got a letter early this week asking if I was still interested. Well I can't say that during the last year, I had made up and un-made up my mind a dozen times whether I had the energy left to take on a plot, but curiosity got the better of me, and the sleeping urge started getting stronger again. One plot offered was like a football field, a second was like Steptoe's yard, just full of cr@p. Neither of those filled me with joy. So I pretty much jumped at the chance of my new baby lottie. It's only a 1/4 plot, but far more manageable for me. I reckon that even if have a disastrous season, we'll be feeding half of Hillington (at least I hope so).
So this is the start of my new journey, hope you enjoy the ride!
